According to the reports, the Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa will not be present at the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP prime minister designate Narendra Modi. A television report also states the former actress may not even send any of her representatives for the ceremony.

The Tamil Nadu chief minister had earlier articulated dismay over Narendra Modi's invite to the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa for his swearing in on May 26. J Jayalalitha reportedly said that it had hurt the sentiments of Tamils living in India and elsewhere.

The AIADMK chief, a strident critic of the Rajapaksa administration, had also said Modi could have avoided inviting the Sri Lankan President. But there are also those who are criticizing Jaya for her contributing more fuel to the already sensitive relations between both nations.

Congress leader admits defeat in Seemandhra

Hyderabad: A day before the counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha election, a senior Congress leader Thursday admitted the party's defeat in Seemandhra region of Andhra Pradesh.

Botsa Satyanarayana, former president of the Andhra Pradesh unit of the Congress, told reporters here that the party will suffer defeat in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Seemandhra.

Satyanarayana said the results would be no different from this week's municipal and panchayat elections in which the Congress faced a humiliating defeat.

He said the party was losing heavily because of its decision to bifurcate the state.

He, however, said that since the Congress delivered Telangana state, he hoped it will come to power in the new state.

Satyanarayana, a former minister who is seeking re-election for the assembly in Seemandhra, said the Congress committed some mistakes during its decade-long rule in the state.

He, however, claimed that the party also implemented several welfare and development programmes.

Without making a prediction as to which party will come to power in Seemandhra, the Congress leader said whoever forms the government should fulfill its poll promises within 100 days.

BJP Leads in All 7 Seats in Delhi

BJP Leads in All 7 Seats in Delhi

pm narendra modi

New Delhi: As the Narendra Modi-led BJP looked set to form India's next government shortly after the counting of votes began on Friday, the party took an early lead in all seven parliamentary seats in Delhi.

The Congress, which won all seven seats in 2009, looked set for an exact reversal of its tally. In even worse news for the party, Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which had performed spectacularly in the December Delhi election, was the second party in most seats.

The BJP's Delhi chief Harsh Vardhan was ahead in the Chandni Chowk constituency, where he had challenged Congress MP Kapil Sibal.  AAP's Ashutosh was Harsh Vardhan's closest rival.

Harsh Vardhan, who was also his party's chief ministerial candidate in the state elections, was seen dancing with supporters in celebration.

The BJP's Mahesh Giri, an Art of Living instructor, was leading in East Delhi over Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit, who has won the seat since 2004.

Mr Dikshit had admitted yesterday, "I am unlikely to win." He blamed it on anti-incumbency.

In the New Delhi constituency, Meenakshi Lekhi of the BJP was leading over AAP's Ashish Khaitan. The seat is held by Congress MP Ajay Maken.

In the South Delhi constituency, BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri was leading against AAP candidate Devinder Sehrawat.

The BJP's Parvesh Verma was leading by a huge margin in West Delhi constituency against AAP's Jarnail Singh.

In North East Delhi seat, BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari was leading over AAP's Anand Kumar.

Udit Raj of BJP was ahead in North West Delhi constituency against AAP's Rakhi Birla

Initial trends from 18 out of 26 seats in Gujarat showed BJP is leading in 17 seats and Congress in one.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Ambika Soni was trailing behind Shiromani Akali Dal nominee Prem Singh Chandjuamajra from the Anandpur Sahab Lok Sabha constituency of Punjab.

Soni, a former Union Minister, was trailing by 4932 votes, election office said.

It was thought that there would be neck and neck situation between the trs and the Congress party in Telangana state in general elections. However, the trs party has swept all the way across the Telangana. As per the latest trends the trs is leading in 65 assembly constituencies and 12 Lok Sabha constituencies. The congress leads in just 20 assembly constituencies while the TDP and BJP alliance leads in 20+ constituencies. The voters seem to have believed KCR was the man behind the formation of Telangana but not the congress party. KCR is going to get the rare honour of becoming the first chief minister of the new Telangana state.

According to the latest trends, the tdp leads in AP Assembly polls. The party is leading in 90+ assembly constituencies while the YSRCP which is giving a tough fight to the tdp got the leading in 70+ assembly constituencies. Since the magic mark to get the full majority is 88, the tdp is likely to form the government if it continues its leading till the last round of the counting. On the other hand, the tug of war situation is being continued between the tdp and the YSRCP in Lok Sabha polls.                                              From Kashmir to Kanyakumari the congress party has shown disastrous performance in general elections, 2014. The Congress led UPA government could succeed in getting the majority in just 60+ Lok Sabha constituencies so far. It has been bigger shock to the party in Telangana. The party in fact claimed the credit of the formation of the Telangana state. Even then, the people seem to have not believed the words of the party. According to the trends, the party is likely to win around 20 assembly constituencies, which is very lesser number than the expected. The party is leading in just two MP constituencies in Telangana.

The Seemandhra results were predictable. The party has managed to got the lead in one MP constituency and one assembly constituency.

The BSE Sensex surged over 1,400 points to a new record high as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance headed for a win in the 16th Lok Sabha elections. The Sensex crossed the psychological 25,000 for the first time.

The 50-share Nifty surged over 400 points to an all-time high of 7,553.90. Meanwhile, the Indian rupee traded at a 10-month high of 58.63 per dollar.

According to latest trends, Narendra Modi-led NDA is leading in 325 seats, wining 184 more seats as compared to 2009 elections. The BJP is likely to get a majority on its own as the opposition party is leading in 272 seats. The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance was leading in 69 seats, down 165 seats from last elections.

"This is the best thing that could have happened for the market, we couldn't have asked for anything better than this. I think this is the beginning of a new growth cycle of India, this is the beginning of new bull market," Pankaj Murarka of Axis Asset Management told Reuters.

Indian stock markets have been on a roll on hopes that a stable government post elections in May would pull out all stops to bring the country's sluggish economy on track. Analysts expect a revival in investment cycle and fast-tracking of reforms under the new regime.

The rally in markets has come on the back of strong buying by overseas investors. Foreigners betting on a BJP victory have poured more than $16 billion into Indian stocks and bonds in the past six months and now hold over 22 per cent of Mumbai-listed equities - a stake estimated by Morgan Stanley at almost $280 billion.

Banking stocks led the bull charge on the Dalal Street, up around 10 per cent. Energy, auto, consumer durable and capital goods stocks traded with over 5 per cent gains.

On the Nifty, 43 of the 50 stocks traded higher. Private lender ICICI Bank surged nearly 12 per cent and was the top Nifty gainer followed by two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp. State-run Punjab National Bank was up 11 per cent.

However, IT stocks fell sharply after the rupee gained over 1 per cent against the dollar.

Gujarat-based companies saw strong buying as BJP headed for victory in elections. Adani Enterprises was up 9 per cent, Adani Ports traded 3.5 per cent higher, while Adani Ports traded with 5.3 per cent gains

Set LAKE VIEW to host first Andhra CM

Set LAKE VIEW to host first Andhra CM

EX- CM kiran kumar Reddy

HYDERABAD:
Lake View Guesthouse once hosted the Prime Minister of Hyderabad, Sir Saiyid Ali Imam, and since then has been a favourite haunt for the rulers, then and now. It will soon be the seat of power again as the prospective chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, post bifurcation, will operate out of the portals of the iconic Nizam-era building.

The guesthouse, spread over 7.14-acre land, has a (G+1) palatial building with 13 rooms, a dining hall, which can accommodate 30 people, and a mini conference hall with state-of-the-art technology. An 11 KV power sub-station has been installed on the premises to facilitate uninterrupted power supply. Apart from these facilities, the authorities have developed a herbal garden, lush green lawns and a rock garden in five acres.

According to city-based historian and managing trustee, Deccan Heritage Trust, Mohd Safiullah, the property of the Lake View guesthouse originally belongs to one of the richest businessmen in the city, Raja Dhanraj Giriji. He had constructed the building in 1920s, but his family never stayed there as they had several palatial buildings in the city.

After Ali Imam and the Prince of Berar's stay at the building, it was taken over by the government of the new Hyderabad State in 1948. Subsequently, in 1956, after formation of Andhra Pradesh, it was handed over to the state government. Since then, the General Administration Department-Protocol has been maintaining the guesthouse.

The GAD allots the accommodation to officials visiting the state at the historic building at a nominal fee.

Soon after the government gave the green signal to allot Lake View Guesthouse for the AP camp office, works began on a war-footing. "We have to remove a few structures on the rear side of the main building and some boulders to facilitate free movement of the CM's convoy," additional director, GAD-Protocol, G Jayaa Kumar told TOI.

"We have already advised roads and buildings (R&B) officials to make necessary arrangements in and around the premises. Except a few works like painting the main premises, the building is ready for occupation," the official added.

"We have already alerted the state Intelligence and, in a day or two, they will visit the premises and take necessary security measures as a VIP will occupy it. Soon, closed circuit television cameras (CCTVs) will ring the entire premises and a solar fence will also be put in place," he added.

Minor modifications would be required for the CM's convoy to go up to the portico. "At present, only one-way is available to reach the portico and now we are planning to make another way from the rear side of the building by removing some boulders," he said. "We will complete the necessary work and keep the premises ready by May 20," the official said.

The guesthouse seems to be a favourite with chief ministers. Earlier, when Y S Rajasekhara Reddy became the CM for the first time in 2004, he stayed at the Lake View for about six months before moving into to the Begumpet camp office. Former CM Kiran Kumar Reddy also stayed for a month or two at the guesthouse.

Pawan Forgets Mega Fans Rivalry with TDP?

Pawan Forgets Mega Fans Rivalry with TDP?

The age old rivalry between mega fans and Nandamuri fans is known to everyone and all. In fact, this rivalry started, when Chiranjeevi was being compared to late NTR by the media and the people in 80s. When Chiranjeevi emerged as the number one and showed his professional domination over other heroes, the rivalry of both the families reached at its peaks. There were quarrels and fights in villages between the fans of both the camps. This rivalry has gradually transformed into colleges and schools as well. Even today, we witness two groups of students in engineering and other colleges.

According to the reports, the student groups of both the camps are struggling with disputes among them. It is reportedly learnt that a group's students are mocking at other group as 'Even your hero also got surrendered to our party'. Obviously, it has become a tough task for the disciplinary committees of respective colleges, to tackle the issues as the issues are connected with caste factors as well.

Here million dollar question is that 'Hasn't pawan kalyan aware of mega fans rivalry with the TDP before taking a decision of supporting to the party?'. But then, pawan kalyan's fans made it clear that pawan kalyan doesn't want to get the support of neither Chiranjeevi nor mega fans. He wants to prove his individuality as an independent hero. To achieve his task, one and only option left for him is to oppose his brother and to go against Chiranjeevi politically.

Woman killed in twin blasts at Chennai Central station

A woman was killed and at least 18 others were injured in twin blasts in one of the coaches of the Bangalore-Guwahati superfast express (Train No. 12509) at Chennai Central railway station on Thursday morning.

The victim has been identified as Swati (22) from Guntur who was travelling from Bangalore to Vijayawada. Four passengers are said to be critical and have been admitted to the GH. Of the 14 others injured, most have injuries on the legs, while one person has a neck injury.

Police say the explosions was reported shortly after the Guwahati Express pulled into platform no. 9 at the railway station at around 7-30 a.m.

The blasts have damaged three coaches (S3, S4 and S5). As of now, police are yet to confirm from which coach the blast was triggered.

Many trains approaching Chennai were detained at various stations. There was commotion in the busy Central station and traffic congestion on all roads leading to it.

Southern Railway Additional General Manager S. Vijayakumaran said the three damaged coaches would be detached from the formation for detailed forensic analysis. The other coaches are being readied for onward journey.

A multi-agency probe was launched to investigate the source and nature of the bombs. The explosions came two days after the State police arrested Mohammed Zakir Hussain, a Sri Lankan national, who was part of an alleged plot to target vital installations in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The arrival and departures of several morning trains from Chennai Central has been delayed even as the Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force have cordoned off the area and pressed in sniffer dogs and bomb detection squads. Investigators were perusing the CCTV footage in Chennai and Bangalore to look for clues.

Tamil Nadu Director-General of Police K. Ramanujam said the cause of explosion was not established yet.

The Railways has opened two helplines in Chennai — 044 25357398 and 044 64502416 — and one in Bangalore 080 22876288.

PTI adds that one person has been detained in connection with the blast.
